On Wednesday night, Rajasthan Royals (RR) was knocked out from the IPL 2018 after suffering a 25-run defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Eden Gardens (Kolkata) in the Eliminator encounter.

Rajasthan Royals

RR captain Ajinkya Rahane decided to field first after winning the toss. Despite the early top-order collapse, KKR was able to score 169/7 at the end of 20 overs due to their superb middle-order batting.

In reply, RR had a very good start but they failed to reach the target due to lack of big hitting. In the end, RR was restricted to 144/4 in 20 overs.

Now, we will briefly talk about some important reasons for RR’s defeat in this game.

Bowlers failed to dominate after a superb start

At the early stage of the game, KKR was under pressure after they went down to 51/4. Among the top-four batsmen, three batsmen failed to reach the double-digit score while the opener Chris Lynn was dismissed on 18 runs.

But the RR bowlers failed to continue their dominating position in the middle of the innings. As a result, KKR batsmen superbly utilised that situation and made a brilliant comeback in the game with some good partnerships.
