IPL 2018: Guntur police arrested bookies after their raids in betting centres

Since the beginning of IPL, the illegal betting in the several places became a huge headache for the country. Despite regularly some people are getting arrested due to involvement in the betting, the situations are not changing yet. Now, recently six people have been arrested in Guntur due to having involvement in this act.

On Saturday, Guntur Urban police arrested six bookies. Guntur Urban SP Ch. Vijaya Rao acknowledged those arrests and further claimed that they seized a car, two bikes, TVs, 13 cell phones, 3 ATM cards and around INR 2.97 lakh cash.

Speaking on getting the source of that news, Vijaya Rao said that Alapati Ramakrishna of Chebrolu village has lodged a complaint against them and police conducted the raids on the betting centres that situated at Koyavaripalem of Prathipadu mandal.

Vijaya Rao also revealed the names of those arrested bookies which are according to Deccan Chronicle, Nama Purnachandra Rao of Koyavaripalem and assistants Vadranapu Venkatesh of Sita Nagar, Kakarla Arun Babu of AT Agraharam, Bodalapati Siva Nageswara Rao of Koritapadu, Patalam Sadik of Tadikonda and Kokipati Ramakrishna of Guntur.

In another case, Nagarampalem police of Guntur city arrested a sub-bookie named A. Raviteja alias Naga.

Earlier in late April, Guntur police had the big achievements after arresting around 24 bookies during several raids under Sattenapalli and Chilakaluripet police station limits. Apart from arresting the main bookie named Koppuravuri Ramakrishna alias RK, the police had also seized two TVs, one laptop, 11 cell phones, 150 grams of ganja and some cash during those raids.
