During the 21st match of the 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Mumbai Indians (MI) at Jaipur, Mumbai Indians’ Jasprit Bumrah bowled an unbelievable over to change the course of the match.

After Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bat, his team scored 167-7 in their allotted quota of 20 overs. The total, despite being a decent one, was less than what the Indians would have expected because of the fact that Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan had stitched a 129-run partnership for the second wicket.

In the second innings, the Royals lost its openers cheaply. From that position, they went step by step to bring the match back in balance.

Bumrah celebrates a wicket.

Bowling his third over, the 17th of the innings, Jasprit Bumrah bowled a scarcely credible over. On the second delivery of the over, Samson mis-timed a slower one by Bumrah. The ball went high into the air, only to land back in the hands of Hardik Pandya.

On the following delivery, Bumrah beat Jos Buttler all ends up as he bowled the English wicket-keeper fair and square. Jofra Archer, who bowled a wonderful spell in the first innings on his IPL debut, couldn’t score a run on the following three balls.

From needing 44 runs to win from 24 balls, the Royals needed 43 runs to win from 18 balls. Such was the impact of the over bowled by Bumrah.
