During the 44th match of the 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Indore, Kolkata Knight Riders’ Javon Searles bowled an indifferent over which saw him picking up a wicket but also conceding 20 runs off it.

After Ravichandran Ashwin won the toss and put the Knight Riders in to bat, they ended up registering their highest even IPL total, i.e., 245-6 in 20 overs. Opener Sunil Narine (75) and captain Dinesh Karthik (50) scored individual half-centuries to power KKR to such a total.

Searles dismissed Finch in his last over.

In the second innings, Rahul and Chris Gayle provided Kings XI Punjab with a much-needed boost at the top of the order. However, wickets at regular intervals and a mounting run rate saw the hosts losing track of the chase. Despite scoring close to 10 run per over, they looked out of contention to chase the 247-run target.

Searles, who made his IPL debut today, bowled the 16th over of the innings to fulfil his quota of four overs. On the first ball of the over, Aaron Finch cleared his front leg to hit a fuller delivery over the deep mid-wicket area for a six. Watch the video:

However, on the next ball, Searles picked up his maiden IPL wickets after Finch was caught by Kuldeep Yadav at short fine-leg. Watch the video:

Andrew Tye, who replaced Finch in the middle, hit a first-ball six over long-on to get things going. Watch the video:

On the last ball of the over, Ravichandran Ashwin hit his first six as he played a fuller Searles delivery over long-off. Watch the video:
