During the fourth match of the 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals at Hyderabad, Kane Williamson took a tumbling catch to dismiss Ben Stokes. Having won the toss, Williamson, Sunrisers Hyderabad’s captain, had won the toss and chose to field.
Rajasthan Royals did not get off to the best of starts as they lost D’Arcy Short (4) in the first over itself. Captain Ajinkya Rahane and Sanju Samson consolidated well as the Royals scored 48-1 in the powerplay. Soon, Rahane (13) too had to walk back to the pavilion.
Just when Royals desperately required a partnership, they failed to build one as on the final delivery of the ninth over of the Royals’ innings, Ben Stokes hit a length ball from debutant Billy Stanlake straight down to the throat of Williamson at long-on. Williamson held the ball in the first attempt, but being still in motion, he juggled it to hold it eventually.
Williamson’s catch meant that Stokes had to return back to the pavilion without making any significant impact. He ended up scoring 5 (8).
