During the 23rd match of the 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at Mumbai, Mumbai Indians’ Kieron Pollard broke the shackles by hitting a towering six which forced the umpires to change the ball.
After Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to field, his bowlers proved his decision right as they bundled out the opposition for 118 in 18.4 overs. None of the Sunrisers’ batsmen played an innings which changed the course of the match.
In reply, Mumbai Indians too failed to stage a substantial opening partnership. Even the home team lost wickets at regular intervals which eventually led to their downfall. The increasing number of dismissals and the required run rate made the chances of them winning the match bleak.
Pollard came in to bat at No. 6 in the 12th over. His brief stay saw him scoring a towering six off Shakib Al Hasan in the 13th over. After the ball was brought back on the ground, the umpires went through a check which resulted in the ball being changed.
