Mumbai Indians again crushed Kolkata Knight Riders at their own home ground as they registered an emphatic win over the hosts at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata. After being asked to bat first, Mumbai Indians posted a mammoth total of 210/6. Kolkata crumbled in the chase and eventually lost the match by a huge margin of 102 runs. The win puts MI now ahead of KKR in the points table.

Kishan hit his third IPL half-century.

Chasing such a humongous total was always going to require a great effort from Sunil Narine, Chris Lynn and Andre Russell. Mitchell McClenaghan provided the crucial breakthrough as he dismissed Narine on the second ball after conceding a boundary on the first ball.

This did not stop the Australian beast though as Lynn collected tow more boundaries from the over. In the next over of McClenaghan, Lynn smashed a six and a four and kept the purple hopes alive. Krunal Pandya geared up to bowl the fourth over and Uthappa smacked a six on the fifth ball.

Lynn was run-out on 24.

On the last ball of the fourth over, Uthappa slashed the ball near the fielder at point. Sensing a run, Lynn stormed out of his crease. With both Uthappa and Lynn ball-watching the inevitable happened. Surya Kumar Yadav swooped in and ran out Chris Lynn. The dismissal killed all the practical hopes of Kolkata.
