Kings XI Punjab riding on a brilliant knock by KL Rahul stormed ahead in the small chase against Rajasthan Royals at the Holkar Stadium, Indore. Punjab needed only 153 runs to win but they stumbled in the early part and lost wickets early. Rahul, who has been in an amazing form throughout, notched his highest score of the season as he scored 84 not out and took the team home.
The critical moment in the match arrived in the 15th over of the match when Rahul and Stoinis were just on the verge of attacking the Rajasthan bowling to complete the chase quicker. In the over of Jaidev Unadkat, Rahul drove one towards Sanju Samson stationed at the point. Samson took the catch but the umpires were not satisfied with it. They went upstairs.
The third checked replays from multiple angles and after much deliberation, KL Rahul was given not out and then the floodgates opened for Rahul and Stoinis. They ended the chase in just three overs. Archer bowled the 17th over, went for 16 runs. Unadkat bowled the 18th over, went for 15 runs and they won the match with 14 runs in the 19th over bowled by Archer.
KL Rahul ended with a brilliant knock of 84 runs in just 54 balls and won the match for KXIP with six wickets in the hand. Kings XI Punjab has won six out of their nine matches now and are making a case to push the top two from their throne.
