During the 10th match of the 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad at Kolkata, Manish Pandey displayed his outstanding skills on the field as he showcased two startling efforts in two consecutive overs.
In which was the first over after the rain-break, Sunrisers Hyderabad gained on the lack of momentum of the opposition batsmen as Billy Stanlake dismissed Nitish Rana (18) on his fourth delivery. In which was a short pitch delivery outside the off stump, Rana played a cut shot straight into the hands of the point fielder, Pandey.
The agile fielder dived to his right to grab the ball. However, just as he was in the air, the ball popped out of his hand. Whilst in the air, Pandey attempted to successfully catch the ball in the second attempt. He was soon gathered by all his teammates in celebrations.
If this effort was excellent, the one which came in the following over was even better. On the last delivery of the ninth over, Sunil Narine hit a Shakib Al Hasan towards the long on region. Pandey, who was placed at long on, jumped to his full potential to throw the ball inside the boundary. He strove hard to catch the ball after recovering from his jump, but unfortunately couldn’t grab it this time.
