The IPL 2018 began with a thrilling match where the hosts and defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) suffered a shocking defeat against CSK at Wankhede Stadium (Mumbai). Dwayne Bravo’s extraordinary knock provide an unforgettable victory for CSK

After winning the toss, CSK skipper MS Dhoni decided to bowl first.

It was the third over when the first wicket fell in this IPL season. MI opener Evin Lewis scored a duck after right-arm pacer Deepak Chahar trapped him for lbw. The hosts’ skipper Rohit Sharma also returned to the dressing room quickly after scoring just 15 runs.

Deepak Chahar was the first wicket-taker in IPL 2018

In next, Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav took the responsibilities to recover that innings. Put an important 78-runs partnership for the third wicket. Both of them were dismissed after getting well set as Ishan scored 40 runs off 29 balls while Suryakumar recorded 43 runs off 29 balls.

The Pandya brothers took the responsibilities to put a good fighting total on the board. They had a brilliant unbroken 52-runs partnership for the fifth wicket. While Hardik Pandya was continuously rotating the strike with singles, Krunal Pandya took the hitting job which he did superbly. Hardik was unbeaten on 22 runs off 20 balls while Krunal was not out for 41 runs off 22 balls. At the end of the 20 overs, the hosts put 165/4 on the board.

Among the CSK bowlers, Shane Watson took 2 wickets (2/29) and Deepak Chahar (1/14) & Imran Tahir (1/23) picked up one wicket each.

In reply, CSK batsmen failed to put any strong fights against the MI bowlers. Apart from Dwayne Bravo, no other batsmen looked dangerous in the match. Bravo is the only CSK batsman who crossed the 25-runs mark.

It was a time when CSK’s defeat was just a few moments away. While Bravo watched the regular wickets falling on the other side as CSK was 118/8 in 16.3 overs, he played a counter-attacking knock. After completing his half-century in just 25 balls, Bravo made 68 runs in just 30 balls before getting caught out. In that extraordinary knock, Bravo hit 7 sixes and 3 fours.
