In the 10th game of IPL 2018, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) beat Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 5 wickets (with 6 balls to spare) at Eden Gardens on Saturday night. While the hosts KKR managed to score only 138/8 in 20 overs, SRH successfully chased down the target in 19 overs after losing 5 wickets. After winning the toss, the visiting team SRH chose to field first. In the rain-interrupted KKR innings, only opener Chris Lynn and skipper Dinesh Karthik reached the 20-run mark.
Lynn was just one run short from his half-century as he scored 49 runs off 34 balls with 7 fours and only sixer.
Meanwhile, Karthik played an important 29 runs innings and batted till the last moment but couldn’t get help from the other side to build up a good partnership. That was the reason KKR put only 138/8 on the board at the end of 20 overs.
Among the SRH bowlers, Bhuvneshwar Kumar picked up three wickets while Billy Stanlake and Shakib Al Hassan claimed two wickets each. Also, Siddarth Kaul got one wicket too.
In reply, SRH was losing some regular wickets but was always in the game. While Wriddhiman Saha (24 runs off 15 balls) was dismissed after a good start, Shikhar Dhawan (7) and Manish Pandey (4) failed cheaply.
Later, skipper Kane Williamson and Shakib Al Hassan put a much important 59 runs partnership for the fourth wicket. While Williamson (50) hit a half-century, Shakib scored an important 27 runs.
In the end, Yusuf Pathan scored 17 runs off 7 balls as SRH secured the victory before the beginning of the final over. SRH reached the target in 19 overs after losing five wickets.
Among the KKR bowlers, Sunil Narine picked up two wickets while Piyush Chawla, Kuldeep Yadav and Mitchell Johnson claimed one wicket each.
Saying it again, Dinesh Kartik lacks good captaincy skills.. Why he dint let narine open? Why he let russel bowl when spinners were bowling so well & kept the pressure on SRH. DK is a good batsman, but a very mediocre captain #KKRvSRH
