KKR’s batting order dilemma

In the last match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kolkata Knight Riders were much criticised for their ununderstandable shuffling of the batting order. They opened with Chris Lynn and Robin Uthappa. They had Nitish Rana at number three. He was followed by Sunil Narine, Dinesh Karthik, Andre Russell and Shubhman Gill.

The first problem was with the position of Sunil Narine. He has been on fire in the powerplay overs Yesterday, KKR decided to not open with him, instead sent him in the middle order. This resulted in mediocre innings of 9(10) which helped KKR in no way.

India under-19 vice-captain Shubman Gill was finally drafted int he playing XI of KKR yesterday to boost the batting line-up. However, he had to bat at number seven. The unfamiliar position and the game situation saw the downfall of Gill.
