In the 13th match of IPL 2018, hosts Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) clinched a big victory for 71 runs against Delhi Daredevils (DD) at Eden Gardens (Kolkata) on Monday night. KKR made a total of 200/9 in 20 overs, DD was bowled out for just 129 runs in 14.2 overs.
The visiting team decided to bowl first after winning the toss. Apart from the opener Sunil Narine, the other top-order batsmen provided the good starts which carried down by the top middle-order batsmen. While opener Chris Lynn scored 31 runs, no.3 batsman Robin Uthappa scored 35 runs off 19 balls.
Later Nitish Rana played a brilliant knock of 59 runs off 35 balls, while Andre Russell played a furious innings of 41 runs off 12 balls with 6 sixes. These knocks helped KKR to put 200/9 on the board at the end of 20 overs.
Among the Delhi bowlers, Rahul Tewatia (3/18) claimed three wickets while Trent Boult (2/29) and Chris Morris (2/41) picked up two wickets each. Also, Shahbaz Nadeem (1/43) and Mohammed Shami (1/53) earned one wicket each.
Chasing down that big targets, Delhi lost their top-order batsmen very early which took them away from the victory. Apart from Rishabh Pant and Glenn Maxwell no other batsmen reached the double-digit score. While Pant scored 43 runs off 26 balls with 7 fours and 1 six, Maxwell added 47 runs off 22 balls with 3 fours and 4 sixers. However, those attacking knocks couldn’t help the Delhi team to reach at least the close of the target as they were bundled out for just 129 runs in 14.2 overs.
Among the KKR bowlers, Sunil Narine (3/18) and Kuldeep Yadav (3/32) grabbed 3 wickets each, while Piyush Chawla (1/16), Andre Russell (1/25), Shivam Mani (1/14) and Tom Curran (1/21) claimed one wicket each.
Nitish Rana won the Player of the MAtch award for his superb batting performance.
