After winning the toss, RCB skipper Virat Kohli decided to bowl first. MI had a horrible start as they went down 0/2 in the first two balls after two top-order batsmen were dismissed in back-to-back beginning deliveries. Opener Suryakumar Yadav and no.3 batsman Ishan Kishan both were dismissed for golden ducks at that period by the right-pacer Umesh Yadav.

Soon, another hosts’ opening batsmen Evin Lewis and skipper Rohit Sharma managed to recover that innings with the brilliant partnership. After putting 60/2 on the board at the end of 6 overs, both put 108 runs partnership for the third wicket that brought them back into the game. While Lewis was dismissed for 65 runs off 42 balls (6 fours and 5 sixes), Rohit Sharma further carried that innings on his shoulder.

Rohit played a responsible knock of 94 runs off 52 balls with 10 fours and 5 sixes and was dismissed in 19.5 overs. At the final moment, Hardik Pandya played a firing knock of 17 runs off just 5 balls as MI put a total of 213/6 at the end of 20 overs. RCB conceded total 17 extras in that innings including 16 wides.

Among the RCB bowlers, Umesh Yadav and Corey Anderson claimed two wickets each while Chris Woakes picked up another wicket.

Chasing down the big target, only RCB captain Virat Kohli succeded against the MI bowlers. Apart from Kohli, no other RCB batsmen even reached the 20-run mark. Opener Kohli was not out till the end as he scored 92 runs off 62 balls with 7 fours and 4 sixes but couldn’t get any positive support from the other batsmen. As a result, RCB only managed to score 167/8 in 20 overs as MI won by 46 runs.

Among the MI bowlers, Krunal Pandya picked up three wickets while Jasprit Bumrah and Mitchell McClenaghan got two wickets each. Also, Mayank Markande claimed one wicket in this game.
