In another last-ball thriller Kings XI Punjab overcame Delhi Daredevils bu just a whisker margin. In the first home game of Delhi Daredevils where they made as many as five changes to the playing XIthey succumbed while chasing a low total. In the end, Kings XI Punjab won by just four runs.

The match was very intense. Delhi Daredevils lost early wickets but the hope was always there since the target was only 144 runs. After a brilliant start from the debutant Prithvi Shaw, DD lost a horde of wickets in ShawGambhir, Maxwell, and Pant. Daniel Christian lost his wicket in form of a run-out.

Rahul Tewatia and Shreyas Iyer then settled down at the crease. Shreyas lyer looked totally unaffected by whatever was happening around him and went after the KXIP bowling. Barinder Sran was out of touch tonight and was leaking runs faster than a punctured water bottle.

The duo of Iyer and Tewatia was in cruise control at the moment they needed 21 runs from 13 balls. The target was well within the reach with some common sense cricket. Andrew Tye then broke the momentum. Tewatia tried slogging, Tye was clever enough to push a knuckleball and the ball was safely pouched by the keeper.

Plunkett had a stellar debut.

DD now needed 21 runs from the last two overs. The over was handed to Barinder Sran. He had bowled poorly so far, and this was Delhi’s best chance to seal the match. The start from Sran was brilliant. He gave just a single to Iyer and dismissed Plunkett on the next ball.

In the next four balls, Sran gave away only three runs. The pressure now fell on Delhi batting by keeping themselves 17 runs to chase. The over from Sran proved vital as he kept enough runs for Mujeeb to defend. Despite a brave effort from Shreyas Iyer, Delhi ended up losing almost habitually.
