Shreyas Iyer, captaining for the first time in the IPL, will step out as the captain of Delhi Daredevils as they play their second home game of the season. Their opponents are the Kolkata Knight Riders, who have been well rested for five days. The Daredevils have lost five out of their six matches and are on oxygen while KKR despite the three wins and three losses looks quite positive on the outlook.

Here is how the probable XI shape up

Kolkata Knight Riders

The last match of KKR seems to have taken place ages ago. After playing plenty of matches in the start, they have had a break of five days. Now they return in the action against the Delhi Daredevils team which has its own battles to fight.

The last match that KKR played was against Kings XI Punjab and the Kolkatan team was mauled in that encounter by Gayle and Rahul. With Lynn leading the proceedings and Uthappa-Karthik supporting him valiantly, KKR posted 191. KXIP openers made the total look like 120 as they exploded.

There was an injury concern for Andre Russell in the last match, he seems to be fit for the match. If he misses out, KKR may try out Cameron Delport in his place. Other places seem settled.

Playing XI –

Dinesh Karthik (c & wk), Piyush Chawla, Robin Uthappa, Sunil Narine, Andre Russell/Cameron Delport, Chris Lynn, Kuldeep Yadav, Nitish Rana, Tom Curran, Shubman Gill, Shivam Mavi

Delhi Daredevils

The Daredevils are facing the prospect of another disappointing season as they have already started showing the signs of panic. Their skipper Gautam Gambhir has taken the responsibility and has stepped down from the captaincy.

Shreyas Iyer will be the new captain of the sinking boat and it will be interesting to see how DD approaches the upcoming matches with a new man at the helm. In the last match, they came very near the KXIP total but ended up losing by four runs.

In the last match, Delhi made as many as five changes. Liam Plunkett, Prithvi Shaw and Avesh Khan impressed and are likely to retain their places. Gambhir’s place in the team is doubtful and Manjot Kalra may take his place.

Playing XI –

Gautam Gambhir/Manjot Kalra, Liam Plunkett, Amit Mishra/Jayant Yadav, Daniel Christian/Chris Morris, Glenn Maxwell, Trent Boult, Shreyas Iyer (C), Rahul Tewatia, Avesh Khan, Rishabh Pant (wk), Prithvi Shaw
