The hopes of enjoying a successful season this time around of Delhi Daredevils were sadly squashed midway through the tournament as their campaign faced some major roadblocks. Newly installed captain Shreyas Iyer started off well but the loss in the last match against CSK will again set Delhi back. In the 32nd IPL match, they host another mid-table Rajasthan. They were defeated by Hyderabad in their last match and will be hoping to topple Delhi. Here is how probable XI shapes up

Rajasthan Royals

This season has been an indifferent one for Rajasthan actually. They won some close encounters which always adds to the confidence of the team. Their losses though have been heavy ones and must have discouraged them. In the seven matches so far, they have won 3 and lost 4.

In the last match, they bowled well and managed to keep SRH down to a total below 160. The chase looked on course but apart from Rahane, no one else took the responsibility and RR went down in the last over. They lost a match they should have won.

They had brought in Ish Sodhi and Mahipal Lomror in the place of Heinrich Klaasen and Shreyas Gopal. While Shreyas Gopal is likely to come back in the team, we can expect Lomror to be out of the playing XI. No other changes seem necessary. Rahul Tripathi has failed at the top but he can be given another opportunity.

Playing XI –

Ajinkya Rahane (c), Dhawal Kulkarni, Jos Buttler (wk), Jaydev Unadkat, Ben Stokes, Sanju Samson, Ish Sodhi, Krishnappa Gowtham, Rahul Tripathi, Shreyas Gopal, Jofra Archer

Delhi Daredevils

Delhi has been one of three struggling teams in the IPL so far. Iyer’s fresh captaincy did lift them a bit in the match against Kolkata but they were soundly beaten by the stronger CSK side. With that loss, DD’s chances of making it to the playoffs are in jeopardy.

Rishabh Pant tried his best against CSK

In the last match against Chennai, Delhi’s bowling was hammered especially, Liam Plunkett. Their reply was dismal at the start. It was Rishabh Pant who played an amazing inning and Vijay Shankar then came to the party but the target was too much.

Delhi went unchanged in the last match but now they will be experimenting. Two slots to try are of Glenn Maxwell and Rahul Tewatia. Daniel Christian and Shahbaz Nadeem or Mohammad Shami can make an entry.

Playing XI –

Liam Plunkett, Amit Mishra, Glenn Maxwell, Colin Munro, Trent Boult, Vijay Shankar, Shreyas Iyer (c), Rahul Tewatia, Avesh Khan, Rishabh Pant (wk), Prithvi Shaw
