KKR captain Dinesh Karthik elected to bowl first after winning the toss. With the help of top-orders important knocks, MI put a big total on the board.

The openers Suryakumar Yadav and Evin Lewis provided a good start with the 46-run partnership. While Lewis was dismissed on 18 runs, Yadav stretched his innings to 36 runs.

At next, skipper Rohit Sharma provided a quick 82-run partnership with Ishan Kishan for the third wicket which settled them for a good total. Ishan impressed with the bat as he completed the half-century in just 17 balls, which was the joint fastest IPL half-century by a MI batsman. He was dismissed on 62 runs off just 21 balls with 5 fours and 6 sixes.

Skipper Rohit played an important knock of 36 runs off 31 balls. At the end, Ben Cutting played a fast cameo knock as he scored 24 off just 9 balls (only four and 3 sixes). That knock helped his team to cross the 200-run mark as MI put 210/6 in 20 overs.

Among the KKR bowlers, expensive Piyush Chawla (3/43) got three wickets while Prasidh Krishna, Tom Curran and Sunil Narine picked up one wicket each.

In reply, KKR totally failed to put at least some fights as they were bundled out for just 108 runs. The hosts’ batsmen literally threw their wickets as they had poor shot selections and bad run-outs. Only two batsmen reached the 20-run mark as Chris Lynn and Nitish Rana both scored 21 runs before their dismissals.

All the MI bowlers picked up at least a wicket as the ‘Pandya brothers’ Krunal Pandya and Hardik Pandya got two wickets each while Mitchell McClenaghan, Jasprit Bumrah, Mayank Markande and Ben Cutting claimed one wicket each.
