In the 45th game of IPL 2018, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) claimed a comfortable victory against the hosts Delhi Daredevils (DD) at Feroz Shah Kotla (Delhi) on Saturday night. DD put a total of 181/4 in 20 overs which was successfully chased down by RCB in 19 overs after losing 5 wickets.

RCB captain Virat Kohli decided to field first after winning the toss. In the DD innings, skipper Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant controlled the innings after their openers fell early. While the openers Prithvi Shaw (2 runs) and Jason Roy (12 runs) were dismissed under the first three overs, Iyer and Pant put an important 93-run partnership for the third wicket.

Pant once again played a 50+ knock as he scored 61 runs off 34 balls with 5 sixes and 4 fours. After Pant’s dismissal, skipper Iyer soon returned to the pavilion after scoring 32 runs off 35 balls.

Later, Vijay Shankar and Abhishek Sharma put an unbroken 61-run partnership for the fifth wicket. Vijay was unbeaten on 21 runs off 20 balls while Abhishek Sharma impressed with his powerful batting as he was not out on 46 runs off just 19 balls (3 fours and 4 sixes). These innings helped DD to put 181/4 on the board at the end of 20 overs.

Among the RCB bowlers, Yuzvendra Chahal got two wickets while Moeen Ali and Mohammed Siraj picked up one wicket each.

In reply, RCB also lost their openers early as Parthiv Patel and Moeen Ali were dismissed for just 6 and 1 run respectively. At next, skipper Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers put a brilliant 118-run partnership for the third wicket which set the tone for them.

While Kohli was dismissed on 70 runs off 40 balls, de Villiers took the responsibility to finish the game. The Protease succeded on his mission as he remained unbeaten on 72 runs off 37 balls with 4 fours and 6 sixes. RCB chased down the target successfully in 19 overs after losing five wickets.

Among the DD bowlers, Trent Boult picked up two wickets while Sandeep Lamichhane, Harshal Patel and Amit Mishra claimed one wicket each.
