SRH captain Kane Williamson decided to field first after winning the toss. After both the RCB openers Parthiv Patel (1 run) and skipper Virat Kohli (12 runs) departed early, AB de Villiers and Moeen Ali controlled that innings with a solid century partnership.

The third-wicket partnership was for 107 runs between de Villiers and Ali which set the path for a big total. Both the batsmen completed their half-centuries as AB de Villiers scored 69 runs off 39 balls (12 fours and only six) and Moeen Ali scored 65 runs off just 34 balls (2 fours and 6 sixes).

At the late moment, Colin de Grandhomme and Sarfaraz Khan played quick-fire knocks which helped the hosts to cross the 200-run mark. Grandhomme scored 40 runs off just 17 balls (one four and 4 sixes) while Sarfaraz Khan was not out on 22 runs off just 8 balls (3 fours and only six). With the help of those innings, RCB put a big total of 218/6 on the board at the end of 20 overs.

Among the SRH bowlers, Rashid Khan had the best bowling figure and that was 4-0-27-3. Also, Siddarth Kaul (2/44) and Sandeep Sharma (1/40) were the other SRH bowlers to pick up the wickets. SRH pacer Basil Thampi conceded 70 runs in his 4-over quota.

In reply, SRH openers Shikhar Dhawan (18 runs) and Alex Hales (37 runs) fell after their positive starts. In next, skipper Kane Williamson and Manish Pandey put an impressive 135-run partnership for the third wicket. While the skipper Williamson scored 81 runs off 42 balls (7 fours and 5 sixes), Manish Pandey remained unbeaten on 62 runs off 38 balls (7 fours and 2 sixes).

However, their impressive innings failed to reach the big target as they finished on 204/3 at the end of 20 overs.

Among the RCB bowlers, Yuzvendra Chahal (1/28), Mohammed Siraj (1/43) and Moeen Ali (1/21) got one wicket each.
