On Saturday evening, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) suffered a 30-run defeat against the hosts Rajasthan Royals (RR) at Sawai Mansingh Stadium (Jaipur). It was the must-win game for RCB as that defeat meant they failed to qualify for the playoffs in this IPL season.

RR captain Ajinkya Rahane decided to bat first after winning the toss. With the help of opener Rahul Tripathi’s brilliant responsible batting, RR managed to put 164/5 on the board at the end of 20 overs.

In reply, RCB was bundled out for just 134 runs in 19.2 overs after suffering a huge middle-order batting collapse.

Now, we will briefly talk about some important reasons for RCB’s defeat in this game.

Uncalled DRS

It was the very early incident of the match. During the last ball of the third over of RR innings, opener Rahul Tripathi was trapped for the lbw by Moeen Ali. While some RCB players appealed for that, the umpire didn’t raise his finger. RCB skipper Virat Kohli consulted with Moeen and they believed that the ball might be missing the leg-stump, thus Kohli didn’t take the review.

However, the replay showed that it was out. That cost hugely for RCB as Tripathi played a match-winning knock.
