On Sunday evening, the defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) suffered an 11-run defeat against the hosts Delhi Daredevils (DD) at Feroz Shah Kotla (Delhi) and lost their last chance to qualify for the playoffs in this IPL season.

DD captain Shreyas Iyer decided to bat first after winning the toss. Once again the DD middle-order batting showed their responsibilities and majorly helped the hosts to put a good total on the board as DD scored 174/4 in 20 overs.

In reply, MI batsmen hugely struggled against the DD spinners and bundled out for 163 runs in 19.3 overs.

Now, we will briefly talk about some important reasons for MI’s defeat in this must-win game.

Failed to take the wickets regularly

Mumbai bowlers failed to take regular wickets. Though the bowlers dismissed Delhi’s top-order batsmen for low scores, they failed against the middle-order batsmen. From the middle of that innings, DD batsmen succeeded to put good partnerships and those helped the hosts to put a good total on the board.
