In the seventh game of IPL 2018, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) snatched a thrilling last-ball victory against Mumbai Indians (MI) at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium (Uppal, Hyderabad) on Thursday night.

Hosts SRH decided to field first after winning the toss and restricted the visitors for 147/8 in 20 overs.

In reply, SRH provided a good start but later batting collapse created a thrilling way to finish the match as SRH secured the victory in the last ball after losing nine wickets.

It was the second victory for SRH in this season while MI has not won yet in this season.

i) SRH leg-spinner Rashid Khan had the bowling figure of 4-0-13-1 with 3.25 economy rate.

  • Joint best IPL economy rate (minimum 12 balls) for SRH against MI. In the last season, another Afghanistan spinner Mohammad Nabi had the same bowling figure against Mumbai at Hyderabad (Deccan) on May 8, 2017.

 

ii) SRH leg-spinner Rashid Khan bowled 18 dot balls in his 4-over spell.

  • Joint-most no.of dot deliveries bowled by a spinner in an IPL history. Earlier, Amit Mishra and Ravichandran Ashwin (twice) had succeeded to produce 18 dot balls in their bowling spell in an innings.

iii) Mumbai put a total 147/8 in 20 overs.

  • The second highest IPL total for MI against SRH at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium (Uppal, Hyderabad). The record is 160/3 on May 12, 2014.

 

iv) MI leg-spinner Mayank Markande had the bowling figure of 4-0-23-4.

  • Joint best IPL bowling figure by any bowler in the match between SRH and MI. Previously, former MI pacer Lasith Malinga had 4-1-23-4 bowling figure against MI at Mumbai on April 25, 2015.
  • Mayank took that 4 wickets at the age of just 20 years and 152 days. Third youngest IPL bowler to claim 4-wickets haul in an IPL match. Pawan Negi and Mitchell Marsh are the only ahead of Mayank in this list.

v) Mumbai successfully chased the 148 runs target (151/9 in 20 overs).

  • SRH’s highest successful IPL chase against MI. The previous record was chasing 143 runs (145/3 in 17.3 overs) at Hyderabad (Deccan) on April 18, 2016.
  • The second highest successful IPL chase for SRH against any team at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium (Uppal, Hyderabad). The highest one is chasing successfully 161 runs target (161/3 in 19.4 overs) against Royal Challengers Bangalore on May 20, 2014.
