In the seventh game of IPL 2018, the hosts’ Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) clinched a thrilling last-ball victory against Mumbai Indians (MI) at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium (Uppal, Hyderabad) on Thursday night. While Mumbai Indians was restricted on 147/8 at the end of 20 overs, SRH chased down the target in the very last ball after losing nine wickets.
SRH decided to field first after winning the toss. Mumbai batsmen struggled against the hosts’ bowlers from the very beginning as none of the visiting batsmen reached the 30-run mark. At the end of the powerplay, Mumbai Indians’ scoreboard was 54/3.
Later, the batsmen struggled much more to score runs against the SRH bowlers. Mumbai Indians played total 62 dot deliveries in that innings and also their wickets were falling regularly which restricted their total to 147/8 at the end of 20 overs.
Opener Evin Lewis was the highest scorer in that innings with 29 runs knock while Suryakumar Yadav and Kieron Pollard both scored 28 runs. None of other Mumbai batsmen reached the 20-run mark.
All the SRH bowlers picked up at least a wicket in that innings. Sandeep Sharma (2/25), Siddharth Kaul (2/29) and Billy Stanlake (2/42) claimed two wickets each while Rashid Khan (1/13) and Shakib Al Hasan (1/34) took one wicket each. Though every Hyderabad bowlers bowled very well, Rashid Khan’s 4-0-13-1 bowling figure was super impressive.
Chasing down the target, the hosts started very well as they scored 56/0 at the end of 6 overs. But once their opener Wriddhiman Saha was dismissed, their wickets were regularly falling. While opener Saha scored 22 runs, another in-form opener Shikhar Dhawan played a brilliant knock of 45 runs off 28 balls.
From 62/0 to 107/5, it suddenly shook the SRH innings. After that batting collapse, Deepak Hooda and Yusuf Pathan provided a steady 29-run partnership for the sixth wicket. When it was seeming like SRH would finally clinch that game comfortably, Jasprit Bumrah’s 18th over and Mustafizur Rahman’s 19th over created another magic that put the thread of defeat for the hosts. Once again, SRH scoreboard read 136/5 to 137/9 in between nine deliveries.
In the last over, SRH needed 11 runs as set batsman Deepak Hooda was batting with Billy Stanlake while Ben Cutting had the role to defend the runs. Cutting failed on his role while SRH batsman Billy Stanlake needed 1 run for victory in the final ball and he succeeded on that. Hooda remained unbeaten on important 32 runs off 25 balls. SRH won the match by 1 wicket.
Among the Mumbai bowlers, Mayank Markande (4/23) grabbed 4 wickets while Mustafizur Rahman (3/24) picked up three wickets and Jasprit Bumrah (2/32) claimed two wickets.

Bhuvi missing but Sid Kaul has quite nicely stepped up. Three wickets in the power-play overs is BIG. Too many shots too much early for #MI #SRHvMI

Rashid Khan 1/13 from 4 overs. Tantalising spin bowling, leaving batsmen in Hamlet-like existential dilemma, to be or not to be…
