During the 37th match of the 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Mumbai, Mumbai Indians’ Mayank Markande made amends after he dismissed Robin Uthappa in the 13th over.
After Dinesh Karthik won the toss and put the home team in to bat, Mumbai Indians scored 181-4 in their allotted quota of 20 overs. Their innings was powered by Suryakumar Yadav’s fifth IPL half-century, fourth of this season. He ended up scoring 59 (39) with the help of seven fours and two sixes.

Despite losing their openers cheaply, Kolkata Knight Riders seemed on track as far as the chase was concerned mainly due to Uthappa’s efforts with the bat. Mumbai Indians nearly had Uthappa as well in the powerplay after he mis-timed a slower short Hardik Pandya delivery to Markande at mid-on. Having said that, the rookie leg-spinner dropped a sitter which he should have easily grabbed. Uthappa was batting at 4 at that point in time.
Markande was introduced into the attack in the eighth over of the innings. In his first over, Uthappa, someone whom he dropped, hit him for a four and a couple of towering sixes. However, it was Markande who eventually dismissed Uthappa.
It happened on the third delivery of the 13th over when Uthappa hit an orthodox leg-break ball to Ben Cutting at long-off. Uthappa ended up scoring his 23rd IPL half-century, 54 (35), with the help of six fours and three sixes.
