Best Performance:

Mumbai have won three IPL trophies so far so they performed their best a lot of times. Their first IPL success was in 2011 where Lasith Malinga showed his excellence in the death overs and became the IPL superstar.

The best performance for Mumbai Indians was in the 2017 IPL season where they found many new heroes like Joss Buttler and Nitish Rana. Hardik Pandya showed his full potential with some extremely powerful hitting. Mumbai won 10 of their 14 league matches. In a tight final, they clinched the nail-biter against Rising Pune Supergiant.

Worst Performance:

Mumbai’s worst performance in the IPL was in the second season which was held in South Africa. That season their team management was poor and no players knew its role in the team. They managed to win only five matches in the league stage and ended second-last in the tournament.

Strength:

This year Mumbai Indians do not have Lasith Malinga but they three excellent foreign bowlers in the squad. Mustafizur Rehman, Pat Cummins, and Mitchell McClenaghan are top-class bowlers and MI will be happy to have all three in the squad.

Their Captain Rohit Sharma has enjoyed a great run of form in the Indian conditions this year and if he gets going every ground will fall short to contain him.

In Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya and Ben Cutting, Mumbai has three big-hitting all-rounders

Pandya brothers are another strength that MI possess. The brothers are all-rounders and both have the perfect skillset needed in T20s. They contain a steady batsman, a powerful finisher, a miserly spinner and a fast bowler.

Another strength of Mumbai this year is the excellent back-up that they have. They have an option ready for almost every player that will play in the best XI. The depth they have is something no other teams will enjoy.

Weakness:

The biggest weakness Mumbai will have in the absence of Harbhajan Singh is lack of a quality Indian spinner. The best they have is Krunal Pandya and Rahul Chahar. On spinning tracks, they will feel handicapped.

With so many foreign options available, Mumbai Indian may have the problem of plenty. While that is not a bad problem to have, the MI team management is historically known to struggle with putting out a good combination together.

Prediction for IPL 11:

Mumbai Indians are the defending champions this season and they look to have a brilliant unit together. They have a side packed with brilliant all-rounders and batsmen who can explode any given time. They will be disappointed to not make it to the playoffs.

Expected End Position: 2nd or 3rd
