During the 26th match of the 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Delhi Daredevils (DD) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Delhi, Delhi Daredevils’ Prithivi Shaw impressed one and all with his innings. Having made an admirable start in his IPL debut in the last match, Shaw banked on his good form in this match.

Dinesh Karthik, captain of Kolkata Knight Riders, had won the toss and chose to field. The Knight Riders included Mitchell Johnson into the playing eleven in place of Tom Curran. Daredevils, on the other hand, dropped their former captain in Gautam Gambhir in place of Colin Munro. Vijay Shankar was included for Daniel Christian.

Shaw scored his maiden IPL half-century.

Opening the batting with Colin Munro, Shaw played the second fiddle to his senior partner. Once Munro got out in the seventh over, Shaw took the onus onto him and played some stellar shots.

On the fourth delivery of the ninth over, which was Mitchell Johnson’s second over, Shaw shuffled and flicked a ball past the square leg boundary. On the following delivery, Shaw dispatched the former Australian speedster for towering six over through the midwicket region.
