During the 50th match of the 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) at Mumbai, Kings XI Punjab’s Lokesh Rahul punished Mumbai Indians’ Mayank Markande in the 16th over of the innings.

After Ravichandran Ashwin won the toss and chose to field, Mumbai Indians got off to a flying start. It was Andrew Tye, who picked up three wickets in two overs to bring back the visitors into the game. Kieron Pollard’s 13th IPL half-century guided Mumbai Indians to 186-8 in 20 overs.

Rahul was at his utmost best.

Markande was introduced into the attack in the first over after the powerplay finished. In his first two overs, he had conceded 16 runs. Rahul, who had opened the innings for his team, scored 18 runs in Markande’s third over to both spoil his figures and score the much-required runs for his team.

On the penultimate delivery of the 16th over, Rahul stepped out to play the lofted shot down the ground for a classic six. On the following delivery, he stepped out again to hit a monstrous hit over long-on. Watch the videos of the two back-to-back sixes:
