During the second Qualifier of the 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at Kolkata, Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Rashid Khan bowled a game-changing spell which saw him picking up wickets without giving away many runs.

After Dinesh Karthik won the toss and put the visitors in to bat, Sunrisers Hyderabad scored 174-7 in their quota of 20 overs. Sunrisers’ start-stop innings saw them losing wickets at regular intervals. It wasn’t until Rashid Khan came out to bat at No. 8 in the 18th over and played a productive cameo.

In the second innings, just when the Knight Riders were looking to run away with the chase, Siddarth Kaul dismissed Sunil Narine in the powerplay. Khan was introduced into the attack in the seventh over. He conceded a paltry three runs in his first over.

On the first delivery of his second over, the 11th of the innings, Robin Uthappa’s attempt to play the reverse-sweep off Rashid Khan saw him missing the ball completely and getting bowled. He scored 2 (8). Watch the video:

On the second delivery of the 13th over, it was Chris Lynn’s turn of missing a sweep against Khan, though a conventional one. The set batsman in Lynn walking back to the pavilion came as a setback for the hosts. Watch the video:

Kane Williamson persisted with Khan which yielded the desired results for Hyderabad. On the fourth delivery of the 15th over, Rashid Khan’s googly found the edge of Andre Russell’s bat as the ball went to Shikhar Dhawan at wide slip. Russell scored 3 (7). Watch the video:

Bowling his last over, Rashid Khan registered bowling figures of 4-0-19-3.
