The superhuman batting of AB De Villiers took Royal Challengers Bangalore past the stiff total raised by Delhi Daredevils and finally brought RCB on the winning track. The superlative innings from De Villiers overshadowed the brilliant knock played earlier by Rishabh Pant. RCB chased the total of 175 with quite ease in the end with ABD scoring 90*(39). The turning point of the match occurred in the second innings.
Supershow from the young brigade of Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant took Delhi to 174 after a sluggish start and gave them a defendable target. RCB openers Quinton De Kock and Mana Vohra walked out and faced a tough first over from Trent Boult which gave away only five runs.
Second over bowled by the part-time spinner Maxwell also went well with Delhi building the pressure. Maxwell sneaked out the wicket of Manan Vohra. Next over, Kohli walked out and looked tentative from ball one. He struggled initially and scored in singles.
It was in the fifth over that De Kock got runout due to a misunderstanding between him and Kohli. He got out and ABD walked out. The match was never in Delhi’s control after that.
De Villiers came out and started smacking from ball one. He did not fit in the ranks of ordinary human tonight, instead, he looked very much like a citizen of a distant galaxy which breeds the great batsmen. After dot first ball, ABD smacked back to back boundaries and made his intentions clear.
ABD soon started jumping from one score to another. He went from 21(7) to 33(16) to 60(27) to 79(34) to finally end up at 90 not out from 39 balls. The innings did not give any hope to the Delhi Daredevils players and snatched a magnificent victory for RCB.
