Royal Challengers Bangalore pulled off a stunning win against Mumbai Indians at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore and kept their IPL 2018 campaign alive. Defending 167 runs against the mighty Mumbai batting line-up Bangalore bowlers bowled well and won them the match by 14 runs. The turning point of the match occurred in the second innings of the match.

RCB vs MI

Chasing 168 runs to win, Mumbai had a disastrous start. In the absence of Evin Lewis, Mumbai opened with Ishan Kishan and Surya Kumar Yadav. The first blow was struck in the first over itself and Ishan Kishan was out for a duck as he was bowled by Southee.

Umesh Yadav then again struck a double-blow to Mumbai as he first trapped Surya LBW and then got the inside edge of Rohit Sharma on the first ball itself. Umpire had originally given Rohit not out but De Kock vehemently asked for the review and the decision went in the favor of RCB. Mumbai 21/3.

Pollard and Duminy then consolidated and in the end, it was all up to Pandya brothers to take Mumbai Indians home. Hardik Pandya who had not performed so far in the tournament looked at this with revenge. Krunal was his partner and the duo started eating off the runs.

Mumbai began the last two overs with 30 runs needed to win. Mohammad Siraj took the responsibility to bowl. He gave just two runs in the first two balls and then MI were under pressure. Next ball was full on the leg stump and Krunal’s top edge went straight to the fielder at point.

Pandya’s wicket broke the momentum and Mumbai were left with 25 runs from the last over. Tim Southee bowling the last over defended the total with ease as Hardik was out on the first ball itself.

Royal Challengers Bangalore 167 for 7 (Vohra 45, Pandya 3-28) beat Mumbai Indians 153 for 7 (Pandya 50, Southee 2-25, Umesh 2-29, Siraj 2-8) by 14 runs
