Royal Challengers Bangalore pulled off a stunning win against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore to keep their hopes of qualifying for the Playoffs alive. After scoring a massive 218 runs, RCB nearly lost the match as SRH came a little too close to comfort but it was the first ball of the last over that changed the match for the hosts.

Kane Williamson

Kane Williamson, who is having an extraordinary season of great batting, was in-form tonight also and played a spectacular knock. Earlier SRH had a good opening partnership courtesy of Alex Hales and Shikhar Dhawan. By the sixth over, Shikhar Dhawan got out for 18 from 15 and the first wicket fell at 47. Hales was short-lived after that and he perished for a well-made 37 from 23 balls with 2 fours and 3 sixes.

It was all Williamson-Pandey show after that. The duo batted sensibly with Williamson taking the lead. Kane smacked the bowling from one end. Manish Pandey, who had been struggling for runs in the tournament so far, came into the party tonight.

Royal Challengers Bangalore

By the last over, SRH needed 20 runs from the last over and Kane Williamson was on strike. He was batting not out on 81 from 41 balls with seven fours and five sixes. It was up to the Captain who had done so much so far to take his team across the boundary line.

Mohammad Siraj was entrusted with the last over. Williamson premeditated the shot and went for a scoop. Not having the optimum connection, the ball soared higher but not longer. It was Colin De Grandhomme who caught it at the boundary rope and the match was as good as over for SRH. They could score only five runs and lost the match by 14 runs.

Royal Challengers Bangalore by virtue of this win is still alive in the playoffs race. Sunrisers will also be happy with the effort that they produced.
