During the 42nd match of the 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Delhi Daredevils (DD) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at Delhi, Delhi Daredevils’ Rishabh Pant scored 26 runs off the last over of the innings being bowled by Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Shreyas Iyer, captain of Delhi Daredevils, had won the toss and chose to bat. Making three changes to their playing eleven, Delhi Daredevils brought in Jason Roy, Shahbaz Nadeem and Harshal Patel in place of Naman Ojha, Daniel Christian and Avesh Khan. On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad made a solitary change in bring in Sreevats Goswami in place of Wriddhiman Saha.

Pant, who came in to bat at No. 4 in the fifth over, became the fulcrum of Delhi Daredevils’ innings which otherwise lacked a significant innings. The fact that Pant dominated the tournament’s best bowling attack speaks highly about his knock.

Amongst the best bowling attack was Bhuvneshwar Kumar, someone who is targeted by batsmen on a rare basis. It started with the 18th over of the innings which was seen Pant scoring 18 runs against India’s topmost fast bowler. On the second delivery of the final over, Pant scooped a full and wide Bhuvneshwar delivery over the short third-man fielder.

In which looks a very unique and innovative shot, Pant played a replica of it on the following delivery, earning another four runs. Bhuvneshwar followed it with a short delivery which was hit for a six through the fine leg region. On the penultimate delivery of the over, Pant hit a one-handed six over the long-on fielder.

For a 20-year old wicket-keeper batsman to belting Bhuvneshwar to all parts of the ground, what people were witnessing was one of the top innings of the IPL ever. Pant finished the over by hitting another six through the deep midwicket region. As a result of the final over, Delhi Daredevils scored 187-5 in 20 overs.
