Few teams in IPL have never been able to impress even though changing squads and playing combinations. Delhi Daredevils is one such team. After years of the unsuccessful campaign this year Delhi robbed in the local boy Gautam Gambhir after released by Kolkata Knight Riders as their captain. Gautam has been the second most successful skipper of the league giving KKR trophies in years 2012 and 2014 yet this year DD has failed to deliver best in first two games.
In the first game against Kings XI Punjab, Gambhir and boys performed considerably with the bat but bowling was a huge disaster at Mohali. KL Rahul from Kings XI Punjab single-handedly snatched the match away by scoring the fastest fifty off 14 balls in the history of IPL breaking Narine and Yusuf Pathan’ record.
The second game against Rajasthan Royals didn’t come as a boon too. In a rain intervened game that was later reduced to only six overs, Delhi had to score 71 runs on board. But the top order failed to deliver. Star names like Maxwell, Rishabh Pant even failed. Though Chris Morris tried to hit boundaries but failed and Delhi’s innings failed 11 runs short to clinch away the two points.
In bowling, Ben Stokes and D’arcy shot were quite a beneficial pitching in quick wickets. But the rain came as a spoilsport. Surprisingly captain Gambhir who looked in great form in the first game didn’t come down to bat sending Maxwell, Munro, Pant, and Morris instead. The result being a consecutive loss and hang down faces in the dugout for Delhi camp. but this didn’t stop the team from keeping their spirit up and sharing some humorous tweets on twitter.
