During the 25th match of the 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) at Hyderabad, Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Shakib Al Hasan got a reprieve after he was out off a no-ball.
Ravichandran Ashwin, captain of Kings XI Punjab, won the toss and chose to field. Punjab brought in Chris Gayle and Manoj Tiwary in place of Yuvraj Singh and David Miller. On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad fielded an unchanged playing eleven.
Ankit Rajpoot created mayhem in the powerplay after he picked up the wickets of the top three batsmen of the opposition, restricting them to 27-3 in the fifth over. On the second delivery of the sixth over, a Barinder Sran delivery induced the edge of a Shakib Al Hasan’s bat which carried on to the third-man fielder.
Just when Shakib Al Hasan was about to walk, Manish Pandey signalled to the umpire to check for the no-ball. After the replays were shown on the screen, it was clear that Sran had overstepped. As a result, the umpire ruled the decision in favour of the batsman.
