During the 13th match of the 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Daredevils at Kolkata, rookie bowler Shivam Mavi picked up his maiden IPL wicket in the form of a priced scalp of Gautam Gambhir.
After being put in to bat by Gambhir, Kolkata Knight Riders hammered 200-9 in their allotted quota of 20 overs. Nitish Rana, who came in to bat at No. 4, top-scored with 59 (35).
In the second innings, Kolkata Knight Riders got off to a best possible start as Piyush Chawla dismissed the in-form Jason Roy (1) in the first over itself. In the following over, Shreyas Iyer (4) was dismissed by Andre Russell, further denting Daredevils’ batting line-up.
Mavi, who was brought in to bowl first change in the third over, picked up his maiden IPL wicket in his first over itself. On the last delivery of the third over, Gambhir tried punching a short-of-a-length delivery, but ended up chopping on the ball to his stumps. He ended up scoring 8 (7) with the help of one four.
Mavi looked impressive with the ball in hand today. What became the highlight of his spell was his speed, which crossed the 140 km/h mark on several occasions. Watch the full video:
