During the 42nd match of the 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Delhi Daredevils (DD) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at Delhi, Delhi Dareddevils’ Shreyas Iyer made his way back to the pavilion after he was involved in a mix-up with his partner.

Iyer, captain of Delhi Daredevils, had won the toss and chose to bat. Making three changes to their playing eleven, Delhi Daredevils brought in Jason Roy, Shahbaz Nadeem and Harshal Patel in place of Naman Ojha, Daniel Christian and Avesh Khan. On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad made a solitary change in bring in Sreevats Goswami in place of Wriddhiman Saha.

Delhi Daredevils started at a slow pace. Just when the openers looked set to shift gears, both of them were dismissed of consecutive deliveries by Shakib Al Hasan.

In which came as a vital loss for the Daredevils, they lost their captain in a run-out. Shreyas Iyer had come in to bat at No. 3 in the fourth over. On the fourth delivery of the eighth over, Rishabh Pant inside-edged a Sandeep Sharma delivery which went towards the wicket-keeper Sreevats Goswami.

In a bid to complete the single, Iyer ran in quick from his end. However, once Pant refused the run, Iyer was always struggling. Goswami threw the ball to the right end which had put curtains to Iyer’s innings. He scored 3 (8).

However, Iyer wasn’t the only Delhi batsman who was involved in a mix-up. Harshal Patel, who replaced Iyer in the middle and started playing his shots from the word go, was the next batsman to fall and that too in a run-out. On the final delivery of the 14th over, he was involved in a major mix-up with Pant, due to which he had to walk back to the pavilion. He ended up scoring 24 (17) with the help of two sixes.

Both the run-outs meant that whilst Pant was at one end, the Daredevils have lost four wickets this season in the names of run-outs, something which the southpaw would be hoping to improve.
