The ongoing 11th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is into its business end now and with each passing match, the entertainment quotient is increasing as well. The fans have been getting up the ante even from abroad. Recently, a couple from Sri Lanka won a sponsorship to watch an IPL match between the Mumbai Indians (MI) and the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) that will be played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on May 16.
Earl Kamalaneson, who is a full-timer in a local church, and his wife Dilhani, an assistant to the Principal in Colombo’s British School, have been blessed with the privilege as per Kashmir Times. Swanthri Jayawardena, the Communications Specialist of the charitable institute said, “FoG (Foundation of Goodness) is sponsoring their return tickets and Mahela will spend on their hotel stay and match tickets.”

Talking about the partnership, the proud winners said, “I received a text message to my mobile phone requesting to make a donation to the ‘Foundation for Goodness and Action for Good’ which I believed was for a worthy cause. I had no idea even if I would be chosen as a winner for this trip to India. I only wanted to send some money for this cause. Three days later, I received a call from a lady from the foundation that I had been chosen for this trip to watch the IPL match.”
Both Mumbai and Punjab need some wins under their belt in order for them to cement their spot in the playoffs of the cash-rich tournament. Punjab started the tournament in an impressive manner but lost quite a few matches and that has landed them in a risky position.
On the other hand, Mumbai had a pathetic start to their campaign, but have come back strong with a series of wins and now they need to win all their games to qualify for the playoffs.
