The league stages of the 11th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) have almost reached its end as only one slot is remaining out of four for the playoffs. IPL 2018 has been one of the most closely fought seasons as most of the teams were in contention to make it to the final stages till the last few days of the league stages. Few teams have discovered the winning momentum in the latter half of the tournament.
On Saturday, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) registered a comfortable win against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Hyderabad to become the third team to make it to the playoffs. KKR won the game by five wickets and a lot of credit for the same goes to their impressive death bowling to restrict the hosts when they were going all guns blazing. Kolkata’s co-owner Shah Rukh Khan came up with a beautiful tweet after his side won the game.

For KKR, Prasidh Krishna picked up four wickets (out of which 3 came in the final over of the innings) and conceded just 30 runs while Chris Lynn and Sunil Narine provided the much-needed start to the team. Skipper Dinesh Karthik played the finishing move quite easily and made sure that the team chased down the target in the final without much of a difficulty. SRH were never in the game as they lost the momentum in the first innings itself and couldn’t manage to get it back.
The loss will not hurt SRH as they remain on top of the table while KKR has regained the third position and booked a place in the playoffs. The orange army has lost three matches in a row and it may worry ahead of the playoffs. The loss against KKR will hurt the most
