During the seventh match of the 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians at Hyderabad, Jasprit Bumrah’s final over proved to be too hot to handle for Sunrisers Hyderabad as they collapsed into a situation which could have potentially costed the match.

After being put in to bat first, Mumbai Indians ended up scoring 147-8 in their allotted quota of 20 overs. In reply, Sunrisers Hyderabad got off to a flying start. Shikhar Dhawan, who was adjourned as the Man of the Match in Sunrisers’ first match, played a similar innings for them this time as well.

Cruising in the chase, the home team lost wickets in the middle overs as the match hung in balance after Mayank Markande picked up his career best bowling figures of 4-0-23-4.

Jasprit Bumrah and Rohit Sharma celebrate a wicket in the 18th over.

With three overs to go and five wickets in hand, Sunrisers required 15 runs to win the match. Just when Sunrisers looked to seal the chase, Bumrah’s fast short ball got the better of Yusuf Pathan (14). In a bid to pull the ball, Pathan ended up giving an easy catch to Kieron Pollard at short midwicket.

Rashid Khan (0) replaced Pathan in the middle only to walk back to the pavilion after facing a lone ball. Bumrah was successful in inducing an edge off Rashid Khan’s bat, which was safely pouched by Ishan Kishan behind the wickets. Bumrah narrowly missed the hat-trick as Siddarth Kaul managed to safely negotiate the last ball of the over.

Picking up two wickets, Bumrah had given a paltry three runs in the over. After his last over, Sunrisers required 12 runs in the last two overs. Meanwhile, Bumrah ended up with bowling figures of 4-0-32-2 after conceding 29 runs in his first three overs.
