During the 51st match of the 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at Bengaluru, third umpire C Shamsuddin gathered numerous eyeballs after he delivered a decision of a catch which did not seem to go well with the majority of viewers.
After Kane Williamson, captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) won the toss and put the hosts in to bat, they lost their openers cheaply in the powerplay. In a situation where Bangalore desperately needed a partnership, AB de Villiers and Moeen Ali stitched a 107-run stand for the third wicket. The partnership came off 57 balls as both the batsmen scored brisk half-centuries.

It happened on the penultimate delivery of the third over when Alex Hales pulled a Umesh Yadav’s delivery fiercely. The ball went in the direction of Tim Southee, who was fielding at the deep square leg. The fielder ran in from the boundary to grab an exceptional catch after diving in front.
S Ravi, the on-field umpire, ruled the decision (soft signal) in the favor of the bowling side. However, the third-umpire had a contrasting viewpoint. The slow-motion replays might have forced him to rule the decision in favor of the batsman. Watch the full video:

Wrogn decision? #RCBvSRH

Tim Southee took a clean catch, no part of the ball touched the ground, we all saw the replays, Southee's fingers were cleanly underneath the ball. That was a shocking decision, by the 3rd umpire, who has the technology. Disastrous. #RCBvSRH #IPL2018

That was a really very unfair decision of Tim southee's catch. It was cleanly caught by him.#RCBVSRH#thirdumpire

A really unlikely decision in favour of @TimSouthee_NZ….A clean catch called NOT OUT off Umesh Yadav..It was a clean and a fair catch….
— Ali (@aliasgar_21) May 17, 2018
That was definitely not a clean catch .. the ball slipped popped out of Tim Southee's hands #RCBvSRH #IPL2018
