During the 39th match of the 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at Hyderabad, Kane Williamson, Sunrisers Hyderabad’s captain, scored his eight IPL half-century, the fifth of his this season.
Virat Kohli, captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore, had won the toss and chose to field. The Royal Challengers gave Moeen Ali an IPL debut and brought back Manan Vohra into the playing eleven in place of Brendon McCullum and Murugan Aswin. On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad remained unchanged.
Williamson came in to bat at No. 3 in the third over after Alex Hales (5) was cleaned up by Tim Southee. On the first delivery that he faced, he flicked a Southee ball for a boundary on the leg side. However, after which Williamson had to spend adequate time in reading the two-paced wicket.
With Shikhar Dhawan (13) back in the hut in the powerplay, the onus was on the skipper to play noteworthy innings. Soon afterward, Williamson saw Manish Pandey (5) giving away his wicket to the opposition. But he remained unhindered in his approach.
Having hit a couple of sixes off Umesh Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal, Williamson brought up his half-century on the third delivery of the 15th over with a single to sweeper cover off Chahal. He failed to finish the innings for his team as he was dismissed in the following over after he hit the ball straight to Mandeep Singh at the deep square leg. He ended up scoring 56 (39) with the help of five fours and two sixes.

Kane Williamson in such great batting form in #IPL2018 and to think he may not have played for #SRH this season, if David Warner had been available.#SRHvRCB#IPL

Started slowly keeping in mind the risk. Heβs build on that start with some lovely shots. Kane Williamson has shown the value of patience even in a T20 game. Just like Mutual Funds…have patience. #FundaSahiHai @MFSahiHai #SRHvRCB #IPL

Brilliant to see Kane Williamson take the pitch out of the equation and bat like a dream. He sure has the game to adapt, and not only survive but thrive. This has been a good knock #SRHvRCB #IPL2018

Kane Williamson is such a gem of a cricketer. Elegant at the crease, athletic on the field and astute as a captain. #IPL2018 #SRH @cricbuzz

To quote @ProfDeano, seems like Kane Williamson himself can score with a pogo stick. Mozart of cricket. A bit underrated in the Fab-four lot? @scottbstyris @StarSportsIndia @GraemeSmith49 #KaneIsAble #SelectDugout

Kane Williamson is such a delightful batsman to watch. My personal favourite in world cricket after Joe Root and AB de Villiers. ππ
