During the 29th match of the 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Bengaluru, Virat Kohli, captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore, dived in front to grab a debut in a bid to dismiss his counterpart.
After Dinesh Karthik won the toss and put the opposition in to bat, Royal Challengers Bangalore scored 175-4 in their allotted quota of 20 overs. Their innings was powered by captain Kohli’s 33rd IPL half-century, without which they wouldn’t have reached this target.
Kohli’s efforts were not only limited to his brilliance with the bat in hand. In the field as well, he was at a different altogether and Karthik’s dismissal is an evident of the same.
It happened on the penultimate delivery of the penultimate over when Karthik hit a Mohammad Siraj to the long on fielder. The ball appeared to fall way in front of the fielder. Kohli ran in, covered a decent ground and at the perfect moment, dived in front to grab the catch. Karthik ended up scoring an enterprising 23 (10) with the help of two fours and a six.
