The Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) skipper Kane Williamson made a huge a blunder just ahead of the start of the 11th edition of IPL against the comeback team Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad on April 9. During the toss time, Williamson forgot the name of his fourth overseas player.
Williamson and RR skipper Ajinkya Rahane came out on the field ahead of the game on Monday for the toss along with Danny Morrison, who was moderating the toss and match referee Sunil Chaturvedi. Home captain Williamson tossed the coin and Rahane opted for tails. RR lost the toss as match referee called it heads. Morrison asked Williamson about his decision, and he, without wasting any time, decided to bowl first.

Morrison then asked both the captains for their four overseas players playing in the curtain-raiser; first Rahane gave the names of his overseas players then, Danny turned to Williamson. The SRH skipper replied, “Rashid Khan, Billy Stanlake, Myself and we have one more.”
It got pretty embarrassing for the skipper of the Hyderabad team as he forgot the name of one of his players. However, later in enquired about it to Ajinkya and he reminded Williamson that his 4th overseas player is Shakib-ul-Hassan. Here is the video of the same:

Royals failed to give a fight, and it was a one-sided game won by the 2016 IPL champions. Reason being lack of good batting and bowling display and the opener Dhawan scoring an unbeaten 77 for the team. Williamson too supported his innings with 36 runs of his bat in the evening. Williamson’s captaincy shone through as he restricted the Royals on 125 runs and perfectly blended his platter of bowlers. He said that such decisions come random and might or might not work sometimes but he hopes he can make best of the team in upcoming matches. He also feels Warner’s loss for the team is huge and the team should balance well now.
