On Tuesday, the Indian Premier League (IPL) Governing Council released the fixtures for the first two weeks i.e., between 23rd March 2019 and 05th April 2019 (17 matches) of the upcoming season. These are still subject to the announcement of the Lok Sabha 2019 election dates. Once the election dates are release, BCCI will do some changes in the schedule for the first two weeks if required and will also prepare a schedule for the remainder of the season working with the local authorities around the polling dates.
The IPL’s release said, “Once the election dates are released we will address any issues with the first two weeks and also prepare a schedule for the remainder of the season working with the local authorities around the polling dates.”
A total of 17 matches will be played during this 2 weeks period across the 8 home venues of the respective franchises. All teams will play a minimum of 4 matches with Delhi Capitals (DC) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) playing 5 matches. Every team will play a minimum of 2 home and 2 away matches with Delhi Capitals (DC) playing 3 home matches, while RCB will play 3 away matches.

The tournament opener will be played between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and RCB on March 23 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
