The former Australia leg-spinner Brad Hogg has been known for his memorable bowling spells and his dedication for the sport and the best testimony of the same came when he made a comeback to the game after crossing the age of 40. He played IPL for two franchises, Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and had been quite a successful career.

Hogg continued plying his trade in the Big Bash League (BBL) and even at the age of 48, recently being a part of the BBL franchise for Melbourne Renegades in 2017-18. He has been seriously impressed with the leadership skills and acumen of Delhi Capitals’ young leader Shreyas Iyer. Under the leadership of Iyer, DC stands second in the points table with 14 points and already put one leg in the playoffs.

Shreyas Iyer took the captaincy reins of Delhi in the last season when it was known as Delhi Daredevils and was initially led by Gautam Gambhir. After losing quite a few games in IPL 2018, the owners made Iyer the captain and he almost turned the fortunes of the team around.

Despite having a senior player like Shikhar Dhawan in the squad, the team management decided to continue with Iyer as a captain for IPL 2019 for IPL 12. Iyer has got some apt support from coach Ricky Ponting and advisor Sourav Ganguly. Hogg also praised the DC skipper for his astute decision making when it comes to bowling changes.

As per the quotes in Times Now, Hogg said, “Shreyas Iyer, there is no doubt about that. Delhi Capitals have been nowhere throughout the whole IPL in the previous editions. This year they are at the top because a young man has taken the responsibility with both bat and leadership out in the field. He is making the right decisions with his bowlers, has led from the front and has taken ownership of that job.”

Iyer had also made 281 runs for DC in 11 matches with two half-centuries and has anchored the innings in mid-innings with hitters batting around him. DC has some talented cricketers like Shikhar Dhawan, Ishant Sharma, Trent Boult, Kagiso Rabada, Rishabh Pant who are big names on their own, but Shreyas has never shied away from taking the responsibility whenever his team has been in crisis.
