The Delhi Capitals (DC) faced another batting collapse against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) as the visitors ran through the hosts in a one-sided encounter. SRH’s bowling was at its best on a sluggish track and surprisingly, despite playing at home, the Capitals failed to adapt to the conditions. They posted an under-par total on the board and the visitors got over the line comfortably.
SRH’s opening duo of Jonny Bairstow and David Warner once again gave the required start. However, the latter was only a spectator this time around. Bairstow took the attack to the opposition and churned out as many runs as possible in the powerplay overs. He smashed as many as 48 runs off just 28 balls before getting dismissed by Rahul Tewatia. Warner, at the other end, let his partner farm most of the strike.

But soon after Bairstow’s dismissal, Warner was also got dismissed by Kagiso Rabada as the Delhi Capitals once again believed that they can get back into the game. The untested middle-order of SRH had to take the team over the finish line and the likes of Manish Pandey and Deepak Hooda failed to grab on to the opportunity again. Vijay Shankar looked calm under pressure but Axar Patel dismissed him which made the game interesting in the end.
But Yusuf Pathan and Mohammad Nabi’s T20 experience was sufficient enough to give SRH a win in the penultimate over of the innings.
Earlier, the SRH won the toss and asked DC to bat first at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium. Run-scoring proved to be difficult right from the word go and the Hyderabad bowlers perfectly read the pitch once again. They introduced Nabi in the second over itself and the off-spinner didn’t disappoint. The Afghan veteran was quickly among the wickets column as accounted for Shikhar Dhawan and Rishabh Pant.

At the other end, the skipper Bhuvneshwar Kumar clobbered the stumps of Prithvi Shaw and the wickets kept on falling at the regular intervals. The DC skipper, Shreyas Iyer was the love warrior for the hosts as he anchored the innings. But the batting collapse didn’t help him as well. Still, he fought out there in the middle and scored 43 off 41 balls before Rashid Khan disturbed his stumps.
Cameos from Axar Patel and Chris Morris helped them get to 129 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their quota of 20 overs. It was an exceptional bowling effort from the SRH as all of their five bowlers were amongst wickets which won them the game.
Brief score:
Sunrisers Hyderabad – 131/5 in 18.3 overs (J Bairstow: 48, M Nabi: 17*; R Tewatia: 1/10) defeated Delhi Capitals – 129/8 in 20 overs (S Iyer: 43; M Nabi: 2/21, B Kumar: 2/27) by 5 wickets
