Mumbai Indians (MI) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) locked horns with each other at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai and the game went down to the last over. In the end, it was visitors got over the line with three balls to spare and four wickets in hand. The hosts came was down and out, but it came back strongly. Nevertheless, Rohit Sharma and his men faced a defeat and the loss ended their winning streak in this edition’s IPL.

On the batting track, the Royals elected to bowl first after winning the toss. Rohit along with Quinton de Kock put on an opening-wicket stand of 96 runs from 10.5 overs. Rohit has looked rusty this season, but on Saturday, he ended up scoring 47 runs from 32 balls with six boundaries and a six. Jofra Archer got his prized wicket. Suryakumar Yadav perished after getting 16 from 10 balls.

Kieron Pollard batted at number four, but could only score six runs from 12 balls. At the other end, De Kock was looking unstoppable and accomplished his half-century in 34 balls. He went on to play until the 19th over and notched 81 runs from 52 balls with six boundaries and four sixes. Hardik Pandya’s fireworks, in the end, helped MI to reach 187/5 in 20 overs as he scored 29 off 11 balls.

Jos Buttler scored another fifty

The Royals started off brilliantly as Rahane and Buttler put on a stand of 60 runs from 38 balls. Rahane scored 37 from 31 balls before holing out to Suryakumar in the deep off Krunal Pandya. After the first wicket, Buttler carried forward the momentum and kept finding the boundary to score 89 runs from 43 balls with eight boundaries and seven over-boundaries.

Buttler got to his fifty in 29 deliveries and got the required rate to a run-a-ball. Rahul Chahar got his important wicket. Sanju Samson and Steve Smith got them close. However, following Samson’s wicket, RR was in a spot of bother. Smith and Rahul Tripathi went cheaply as well. In the last over six runs were needed,  Shreyas Gopal hit a four and took the Royals over the finishing line.
