One most loved IPL franchises Chennai Super Kings (CSK) locked horns with their northern counterpart Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in Delhi on Tuesday. After winning the toss, the DC skipper, Shreyas Iyer decided to bat first on the sluggish surface where bowlers had all the fun in recent domestic and international games. However, in the end, CSK chased down a total of 148 runs with two balls to spare.

After having a sluggish start, Delhi was struggling at 79/2 at the end of 12 overs, then came Rishabh Pant (25) who made a decent partnership with Shikhar Dhawan (51) for the third wicket of 41 runs before being dismissed by Dwayne Bravo in the 16th over. He took two crucial wickets in that over as he also dismissed Colin Ingram in the same over. Because of that, Delhi only managed to reach a total of 147/6 in their quota of 20 overs and it wasn’t enough for them to win the game. Bravo also dismissed Dhawan in his next over as well.

During the chase, CSK lost Ambati Rayudu for five to Ishant Sharma. Nevertheless, Shane Watson and Suresh Raina carried forward the momentum and cobbled together a stand of 52 runs from 24 balls. After that, the visitors were cruising at 57/1 at the end of first six overs with Raina and Watson going all guns blazing over the DC bowlers. Then came the 7th over of Amit Mishra in which out of the first four balls, Watson smashed two sixes, but in the penultimate ball of the over, Watson had to go back to the pavilion owing to the brilliance of Rishabh Pant behind the stumps.

Watson’s dismissal doesn’t result in CSK’s innings coming to a halt as the onus was on Kedar Jadhav and MS Dhoni to take them to the victor. Jadhav went back after a knock of 27 runs and Dhoni stayed till the end to remain not out on 32 from 35 balls and helped the visitors to go over the line with two balls to spare. Watson received the man of the match award for his knock.
