As per the recent reports of Sportstar, James Wear, General Manager Commercial, at New Zealand Cricket said that the decision has been taken to help the players prepare better for the World Cup. He said that all the players will be available for the entire league on Monday.

Wear further elaborated, “We think it will be a good preparation for the players. The more experience they get playing outside New Zealand, the better. The IPL is a great platform for players like Corey (Anderson) and Mitchell (Santner).”

Though the IPL schedule is yet to be announced, it is believed that the tournament would start on March 29 and continue until the third week of May.

According to the ESPN Cricinfo, the IPL is likely to commence on March 23 in order to give the Indian cricketers ample amount of rest before the World Cup. India’s biggest money-spinner is scheduled to begin on May 30 while the Men in Blue will be playing their first game on June 5 against South Africa. As per the previous schedule, the IPL was concluding on May 19 which would’ve ideally given them only 10 days before the World Cup starts.
